When
SAB Ka Bheja Fry was launched, the
producer and the channel bigwigs were boasting
about how different their show was going
to be. Though the show is been on air for
barely two months but its format has under
gone a sea change. A show that primarily
comprised of gags and sitcoms will now be
reduced to a stand-up comedy show.
Low TRPs have forced the channel to introduce
Comedy Circus' participants on this
show. The likes of Swapnil Joshi, Shakeel
have already made their presence felt. VIP
(Vijay Ishwarlal Pawar) will follow suit.
With these men at the helm, it gives little
screen space to other proven performers
such as Suresh Menon, Kiku, and Kunal Kumar.
"I wasn't aware of this development
until I saw these guys (Comedy Circus) on
the sets. I was taken aback by it. However,
we actors don't have any say in finalizing
the star cast." says an actor on condition
of anonymity.
Another actor adds, "Any show is all
about TRPs. Unfortunately, our show wasn't
quite doing well. Comedy Circus was a huge
success, so SAB TV decided to rope in these
actors. If these guys help increase the
TRPs, it's fine with me. I'm just happy
to be playing my little part"
Producer Abhimanyu Singh offered a different
tale, "The change in format is done
so as to add to the shows variety. Also,
it isn't that the Comedy Circus guys alone
will do stand-up comedy. Suresh Menon will
be there."
One person who decided against stand-up
comedy is Kiku. The burly actor says, "Stand-up
comedy has never been my forte. Plus, I'm
only working for few days for SAB Ka...
as I have other commitments. However, I
have no intention of quitting the show.
I'll continue doing the gags."
Low TRPs have resulted into Comedy Circus's
contestants entering SAB Ka.. We wonder,
if these guys help in increasing the TRPs
then will there be any need for Swapnil
Joshi and co.'s predecessors?
