After Dhoom Macha De, NDTV Imagine has made way for yet another music based reality show produced by Gajendrra Siingh’s Saibaba Telefilms. But unlike the running on which has celebrity singers as participants, the new show titled as Junoon will have common man participating in it. The USP of the show is in the individual talent of the contestants and also that the audience will be voting for a genre of music and not for individual singers.

Shailja Kejriwal, EVP Content, NDTV Imagine said, "With Junoon, NDTV Imagine presents a fresh concept in this popular genre of music talent shows, creating a differentiated experience for our viewers."

Gajendrra Siingh, producer of the show, "This show is all about, Junoon…kuchh kar dikhaane ka. Junoon will bring out the very strong and popular styles of music especially Sufi and Folk in an interesting and unique way."

As per the format, the show will feature three teams who will represent a genre each. The three teams will be named Sufi Ke Sultan who will represent Sufi, Maati Ke Laal representing folk genre and Bollywood Ke Baadshah representing filmy music. Each team will have six contestants and will be mentored by celebrated singers, namely Ustaad Rahat fateh Ali Khan (Sufi Ke Sultan), Ila Arun (Maati Ke laal) and Anand Raj Anand (Bollywood Ke Baadshah).

Every week, the participants from all the teams will perform a song from their respective genres. Viewers will send in their votes for their favourite genre, which will identify the weakest genre. It would be then left to the mentor of the weakest team to decide on the elimination of one of the contestants from his/her team. The decision on the genres will be based on 100% audience votes.

The show that starts in June will air twice every week with a performance and elimination episode.
