Like
so many of her contemporaries Urmila too
has succumbed to the power of the small
screen. After her initial experience as
a judge on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2 the
hot actress decided to make yet another
appearance on TV. Though of course her critics
would argue that she too uses this medium
as her work in films is currently at an
all-time low.
Nevertheless, the Bollywood babe sounds all upbeat as she's
set to mark her debut as an anchor in Sony's reality show Waar Parrivar. Tellychakkar
caught up with the pretty actress at the launch of the musical show. Why
Waar Parrivar? I had various offers for judging and even anchoring
but I turned down most of them especially those in anchoring. To me anchoring
takes a whole lot of time, energy and more commitment. I never thought I'll be
a good anchor. Music is something which we all can relate to. I'm lucky
to have come from a family of classical singers. So, I do possess some knowledge
of music. However, what compelled me to take this was that it has a mixture of
music, family and of course Gajendra Singh. You're critics feel that
hosting may not be your forte. Do you agree? Hosting is all about communicating,
building a rapport between the audiences and you. I've been in this industry for
long and have reaped success. I wouldn't have survived for so long if I wasn't
able to communicate with the viewers. There must be something in me which appeals
to them. Will I make a good host? Well, you'll just have to wait and watch.
Prachi
Desai was irked after you said that Sandhya should have won Jhalak Dikkhla
Jaa 2. Please comment. Well, each one of us has the right to express
their personal opinion. I said what I had to and there's no regret about it. However,
Prachi wasn't all that disappointed as it was made out to be. In fact, Prachi's
mother herself complimented me for my role. What are you most comfortable
with - hosting or anchoring? I'm comfortable doing both. If you're positive
about yourself then no task should be difficult.
You're venturing into
hosting at a time, where you'll be competing with big guns of Bollywood like Shah
Rukh and Salman. Are you apprehensive? To agree to it is adopting a pessimistic
approach towards life. I sincerely feel that there's an audience to each show.
We should leave it to the viewers to decide as to what they want. Besides, everyone
will do things that suits them the best. We've seen Urmila as judge,
now as a host. Aren't we far away from seeing Urmila compete in a reality show? Well,
that is a bit far fetched. At the moment, I'm only thinking about my current assignments.
