Many of Tinsel
town’s forlorn actors are back from the wilderness. After Mamik,
another actor from the early 90s is set to regain lost ground. Sudesh Berry, who
featured in films like Ghayal and Refugee, marks his return to television
with Amber Dhara. Sudesh
will be essaying the role of Dev Shukla, the father of Amber Dhara who
left his family at the time of his daughter’s birth. Speaking on his character,
he says, “Currently Amber is booked for murdering Akshat’s mother, who has hired
me as his lawyer. Dev isn’t aware that he’s fighting against his daughter.”
Adding more on his role, Sudesh says, “Dev is a high profile lawyer, one
who never lost a single case. He will do anything to emerge victorious. He’s not
negative but there are grey shades to Dev. Later on, he turns into a positive
character.” In a career spanning nearly two decades, Sudesh surprisingly
has very little to show. After beginning on a bright note in the bumper hit Ghayal,
Sudesh was reduced to playing cameo roles in shoddy films. He had all the ingredients
to be a top-notch actor but his career didn’t quite blossom. “It’s true that I
didn’t play many lead roles but this can be attributed to destiny. However, not
all is lost yet. I’ll be playing a lead in an upcoming action comedy flick.”
Sudesh isn’t new to TV either. He was last seen as Inspector Bharat in
DD’s mini series Suraag (2001). So, what brings him back to the small screen
after seven years? “I never quit television. One can call it a break. Besides,
in these years, I’ve done numerous films. My last film Kaafila was with
Sunny Deol. I’m no longer looking at acting as I’ve set my eyes on production.
I want to act as well produce films and TV serials. We are currently working on
a project for DD. Soon, we move on to films as well.” From the look
of things, it’s fair to say that Sudesh’s career is finally on the move.
