I have double standards
Kanwaljit Singh

There are times in all our lives, when we desire the need for divine intervention; times, when life refuses to acknowledge the seemingly obvious and decides to take refuge in a world that is far away from ours. A world that gives the body and mind the spiritual healing that it yearns for. We, at Telly Chakkar.com decided to delve deeper into the lives of our favourite stars and know a little about their lives beyond the obvious.

Define God?
God is love.

What is spirituality for you?
Spirituality for me is doing good to others and doing good to yourself. I guess when you are good to others you’ll get the same in return.

What special connection do you feel with God and your inner-self?
To be very frank I’m not religious. When I’m happy I hardly think of Him but when there is a down fall I blame Him. There is no special bond that I share with God.

Do you believe in the magic and power of prayers?
I believe in myself. Prayers are psychological means and doing so one feels that they can cope up with problems in life. Believing in my own self helps me to cope with stress in life.

Who do you credit for your ability to overcome hurdles, if any?
As I mentioned above that I believe in myself so I credit myself.

What kind of books do you read? Especially to get connected to God and your spiritual side?
I don’t read religious books. I’m a great admirer of a German philosopher who said that ‘God is dead and he died laughing.’

What do you do on a daily basis to remain connected to God and your inner-self?
I’m grateful to all human beings. I think this is what God expects from you. One has to learn to be kind as being unkind and then praying to God will not do wonders.

In an industry that is so materialistic, how do you manage to retain your inner-self?
You need to get your priorities right in life. One should realise what is really important. Is it career, name, fame, family or love? All clutters from the mind should be removed, which would make the road ahead very smooth.

Astrology, numerology and tarot reading?
I’m a double standard man. I don’t go to anybody but if someone comes to me and says that this is your astrology for a month or year I listen. Believing it or not is comes later.

Do you fast?
I fast to lose weight not for religious purposes. When I don’t get time to hit the gym or play tennis, I fast.

Do you follow any rituals?
I don’t believe in rituals.

What is your comfort zone?
I write a diary, not on a daily basis but once in a blue moon or whenever I feel the importance to talk with it. That one diary goes on for years sometimes. Talking to myself makes me feel comfortable.

What keeps you going?
The capacity to be humble keeps my children and me going. Things that I have achieved and what remains to be achieved gives me the path to walk on.

Any wish that you want fulfilled?
There is not just one but many. I’ll only reveal them if God is ready to fulfill all of them not before that.
