Gagan Malik who is currently seen as Sharman in Kumkum has got his big break with Zee’s Saath Saath- Banayenge Ek Aashiyana. The story is about two cousins Uday and Abhay. The characters of Uday and Abhay are played by Gagan and Amit Tandon (Indian Idol fame) respectively.

Talking about his character Gagan says, “The story revolves around two cousins who are very close to each other. We have come down from abroad and have settled in Delhi. I am playing Uday who is very sweet, positive and respects everyone.”

He adds, “The story takes a turn when I decide to get married to a rural-girl who was earlier supposed to get married to my cousin. I play the role of a guy who sacrifices his dreams and desires for his family’s status and the girl’s reputation.”

Gagan is positive about returning back to Kumkum even after the reincarnation takes place. He says, “There will be all new faces and a new beginning in Kumkum. But I am positive about my return as the production house is really happy with my work. But that would happen only after one and a half month.”

Talking about the elevation from a character role to a lead Gagan says, “Sharman was also a very important character but playing the lead is undoubtedly satisfying and rewarding. It is like a challenge to me as I have to meet up with the expectations of the channel and my fans.”
