Mera Sasural is the saga of
two young girls Heer (Urmila Kanetkar) and Goldie (Pooja Joshi) in their respective
sasurals. The show brings alive the struggles of a woman in her attempt to strike
a balance between the world that she is born into and the one that she enters
into the moment she is married. It's a tale revolving around a Punjabi
family residing in the same house in Jammu and how they eventually become two
sasurals. Yashpal Khajuria (Sudhir Pandey), a jagrata singer and a devotee
of 'Bawe Waali Mata' intends to get Omi, his youngest son and a striking army
officer married to Heer, a Kashmiri girl. Though he disapproves initially, Omi
eventually agrees to marry Heer. The head of Khajuria family, Yashpal Khajuria
with his family and his younger brother Bhushan and his wife Sushma live in the
same house. Yashpal's daughter Goldie falls in love with Lovleen, who is Sushma's
step brother. Sushma hates Yashpal's family although she pretends to be happy
about Goldie and Loveleen's relationship and gets them married. Her wily plan
however is to destroy their marriage. Heer on the other hand is accepted whole-heartedly
by Yashpal and his family. This difference in approach of the two families towards
their daughters-in-law is clearly evident. Life has some hard surprises stored
in for Heer as she and Omi head for their honeymoon. What occurs after that changes
Heer's life and the life of the Khajuria's forever. |
