Shabbana Mullani who is currently playing the parallel lead on 9X’s Jiya Jale has turned down an offer for a role opposite Arjun Rampal. Shabbana says, “It was a very small cameo which just required a day’s work. I received the call from Popcorn Entertainment who told me that it is a very important role but I didn’t even bother to listen to it. The fact of the matter is that it was just a day’s shoot and how could it be important?”

What many television actresses would have grabbed with both hands Shabbana turned down because she doesn’t want to do films just for the sake of appearing on the big screen. She says, “I want to do movies but I want to do something substantial, something that excites me. I don’t want to do it for the money quotient or just for the appearance.”

She adds, “Acting is my childhood dream and I am open to any kind of roles but the only condition is that the role has to be exciting to lure me. I did Anurag Basu’s Love Story only for Mr. Basu’s name attached to it. The role also was no doubt very exciting. I played the character of Milli which had gray shades.”

Shabbana is currently doing Jiya Jale in which she essays the character of Avni. She says, “I play Avni who is a very sweet, bubbly and simple girl which is quite similar to me in real life.”

Shabbana is looking for better offers both on television and in films. Shabbana avers, “At present I am just doing one serial. I am reading some scripts but will accept only if it’s worth doing.

Shabbana has done a film down south called Adaab Hyderabad and also Nasim Rizvi’s Hello Hum Lallan Bol Rahe Hai with Rajpal Yadav.
