On an empty stomach I would remember food not God
Kamalika Guha

There are times in all our lives, when we desire the need for divine intervention; times, when life refuses to acknowledge the seemingly obvious and decides to take refuge in a world that is far away from ours. A world that gives the body and mind the spiritual healing that it yearns for. We, at Telly Chakkar.com decided to delve deeper into the lives of our favourite stars and know a little about their lives beyond the obvious.

Kamalika Guha aka Gayatri chachi is a very practical person in real life. She does not limit herself to the rituals and customs but feels that God is omnipresent. She strongly feels that it is her positive attitude, parents’ support and God’s presence in her l;ife that has made her overcome the hurdles that she has faced in her professional and personal life. In tellychakkar’s Soul Curry Kamalika talks about spirituality and God.

Define God?
I see God in my parents.

What is spirituality to you?
Spirituality is believing that we are a part of Almighty’s creation. Everything is pre-destined. It is coming to terms with the truth that there is a higher being who is actually guiding us. Spirituality is striving hard and achieving to be a good human being.

What special bond/connection do you feel with God and your inner-self?
On a ritualistic level I do worship and light a diya before leaving my house. I pray before I go to sleep. In my mind God is omnipresent. He is everywhere all the time. We often forget to thank God after he fulfills our wishes.

How much do you believe in the magic and power of prayers?
I do believe big time. Whatever we pray for with a pure heart the whole universe makes it happen for us.

Who do you credit for your ability to overcome hurdles, if any?
I definitely pray to God in times of trouble. I am sure he is the one who helps me overcome those problems. In my family I credit my parents. They have always supported me and made me see the positive side to everything. I always believe that behind the dark clouds there is always a silver lining.

What kind of books do you read? Especially to get connected to God and your spiritual side?
I read The Speaking Tree in Times of India. I also read books like Conversation with God and related books. I read Paulo Coelho’s work like The Alchemist, Manual of the Warrior of Light. I like the thought behind such philosophical books. It moves you towards positivity and teaches you that the problems are nothing and you need to face and fight against them strongly.

What do you do on a daily basis to remain connected to God and your inner-self?
I pray daily.

In an industry that is so materialistic, how do you manage to retain your inner-self?
You need to get your priorities right in life. One should realise what is really important. Is it the career, name, fame family or love? All clutters from the mind should be removed, which would make the road ahead very smooth.

Astrology, numerology and tarot reading?
I do believe in occult sciences but not blindly. In a broader way it does guide us. But I don’t have somebody to refer to every time I do something.

Do you fast?
No, not at all. I don’t think God needs to be bribed with such things. I also do not believe in these days associated to different Gods. Why limit yourself in worshipping a God to just one day? I do not follow anything that is illogical. On an empty stomach I would remember food not God.

Follow any rituals?
I don’t believe in rituals.

What is your comfort zone?
My home is my comfort zone. I love spending time with my five year old daughter, I love reading a Cinderella or a Snow-White to her. The joy that I get is unexplainable.

What keeps you going?
My positivity and my belief that there is always sunshine behind the dark clouds.

Any wish that you would want God to fulfill?
I always pray that I am able to be happy and smile through tough times. Being happy in the true sense is very rare. I just want to be happy with whatever I have which is given to me by God.
