For the first time in the history of television award functions viewers are going to see King Khan perform. Shahrukh Khan is going to perform for Balaji's, The Global T.V. Honours. Ekta Kapoor, producer and creative director of Balaji feels that Shahrukh is the numero uno when it comes to appealing to viewers. Ekta said, "He came from television. Shahrukh has the biggest audience placed all over the world and no one can beat him when it comes to global reach."

Harsha Chugh Khanna, Balaji business head- U.A.E. says, "We are proud to have managed to bag Badshah of Bollywood to perform and his act is designed and choreographed by Cineyug." Indrani Mukherjea of INX too feels that Balaji would create history with having Shahrukh Khan perform at Global T.V. Honours.

Is good friend Karan Johar too expected to perform? Ekta quips, "Karan is going to do a rap. No, jokes apart, I think we will ask Karan to do something that suits him."

The jury includes renowned names from the television and media industry like Farida Jalal, Aroona Irani, Manish Malhotra, Vikram Phadnis, Anurag Basu, B.P.Singh, Anil Thakraney, Ashwini Yardi, Sanjeev Sharma, Deepak Malvankar, Aly Morani and Neena Gupta.

There will be six main categories with 30 sub-categories. The six categories will comprise of Popular, Technical, Programming, Achievement (for which there will be no nomination), Special Honours and Voters Choice.

Ekta Kapoor put aside all the speculations regarding the fair game in terms of nomination and winners and claims that the process is going to be authentic as Balaji will not file in the nominations for their actors. Ekta says, "We have not nominated for any category. It has been solely the channels' decision. So far we have got 370 nominations which is good news."

Ekta adds, "There would be actors from all the channels and production houses at our award function, who would also be performing. So it's not going to be just a Balaji's affair."

With so many award functions lining up how different is the Balaji's award function going to be? Shobha Kapoor replies, "It is going to be more entertaining, more interesting especially with Shahrukh Khan performing. Something new will come up with Balaji's awards. Also with young minds at work you can always expect some fire-works."

Balaji initially wanted to take their award function globally by hosting it in Dubai but there were certain problems and they had to pull off. Harsha says, "The reason we have named our awards as global awards is that we are planning to take it globally. We were planning to host the awards in Dubai, but there were certain hiccups relating to transportation. It takes a lot to manage four hundred people who are your guests and you need to take extra care. But we are looking for tie-ups. There are three-four countries who have invited us so far."

The Global Indian T.V. Honours will be telecast on 9X. The event is managed, scripted, directed and executed by G.S. Entertainment. The awards ceremony will be held on 1st February 2008 at Andheri Sports Complex, Mumbai.
