As
one who’s never succumbed to the run-of-the-mill
stuff, Pallavi Joshi has limited her appearance
on the Hindi GECs. The Maharashtrian girl
is creating waves on the regional front
with her award winning show Asambhav and
as host of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on Zee
Marathi.
Pallavi, who heads Atharva productions,
is looking to expand her career as a producer.
“After the success of Asambhav I have four
to five projects for the following year.
It’s too early to elaborate on any of them.
But I will say that I’m eyeing Hindi serials
but not the usual sass-bahu sagas,” says
Pallavi.
But
does a niche show really work? Pallavi chides,
“Asambhav is a different show and it’s gained
high TRPs as well as the awards. It’s not
a family drama but a thriller. I have lined
up 4-5 projects for this year and none of
it is a family drama. We must make shows
which make people think. It should be thought
provoking. Alpviram and Mrignaini feature
in this bracket.”
Pallavi is also creating waves as the host
of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on Zee Marathi.
“I’m having a wonderful time on Sa Re..
Marathi. The talent in the Marathi segment
is simply outstanding,” says Pallavi proudly.
But seldom has any regional winner from
Maharashtra gone on to win the biggest contest.
A contest which his held in Mumbai and where
the viewers decide the winner, it’s surprising
that not many locals have won Sa Re Ga
Ma Pa Challenge. Pallavi replied, “Be
it or Sa Re.. Challenge or any such
reality shows, we all know what occurs there.
After all, in these grand shows there is
lot at stake. It’s not just a singer’s performance
but his personality too needs to appeal
to the viewers. In fact, at times, people
tend to vote for pretty faces than their
talent. However, Sa Re Ga Ma is not
to be faulted. They’ve always looked to
present the best but people have their own
way of choosing the winner.”
Producer and a host, so does it mean acting
has taken a backseat? Pallavi is quick to
say, “No. I haven’t quit acting. It’s just
that I’m waiting for the right role.” So
will she be acting in any one of her upcoming
ventures? Pallavi offers a diplomatic reply,
“It’s been my policy to never act in my
own shows. I have received couple of offers
from other production houses and I’m contemplating
on one of them. So, let’s keep our fingers
crossed.”
