SAB
TV is set to revamp its 8.30 pm slot with
its existing line –up being shifted to another
time slot. The current shows are being replaced
by Funny Family, Bhaago KK Aaya,
Yes Boss and FIR.
News
has it that Sab TV may pull off as many
as three shows from its 8:30 p.m. slot.
The three shows for whom the death knell
has been sounded are Detective Doll,
Sirf Stories, Full Masti 88.20. Currently
all the three shows have been re-scheduled
and will now be on air at 7.30pm from 29
Jan. After which they may slowly be pulled
off. The only show that will continue in
the 8 .30 slot is Gupshup Coffee Shop
which airs every Thursday.
Confirming this news the channel’s Business
Head Anooj Kapoor says, “We are revamping
the 8.30 pm band. Funny family, Bhaago
KK Aaya, Yes Boss and FIR
will replace the existing shows. After intensive
research, we came to the conclusion that
the youth (our target audience) usually
watch television at 7.30 pm.”
When asked whether the current 8.30 pm
band shows are going off air, he replied,
“No. They’ll be shifted to the 7.30 pm slot.”
Whereas,
Sandiip Sickand creative director Miditech
(producers of Detective Doll) says,
“Apparently the entire band is going off-air.
I think there is some change in the channel’s
policy. We are informed that our show would
get shifted from 8:30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.
They have asked us to make another 13 episodes
so we are in the process of making the same
and then let’s see what happens.”
Priya Nair, the executive producer of Detective
Doll and Sirf Stories chose to
remain tight-lipped on the matter. She says,
“I am not authorised to speak on such issues.
I am not the spokesperson of the channel.
You will have to speak to the channel.”
However an actor from one of these shows
on the condition of anonymity says, “Yes,
even I heard of it from a friend. I had
a feeling that something is wrong and the
shows are not doing well when they came
up with the change in the slot. You know
with the channels it is a trial and error
case. If you are lucky then your shows will
do well otherwise the channel has to come
up with new ideas and options. Even I am
very upset as I really loved my character.
As of now they have just informed us about
the time change and the pull off is not
announced formally.”
Rupali
Guha, co-producer Film Farm Production (producer
Sirf Stories) has no clue about the rumours
about the shows going off-air. She says,
“The channel is happy with our show and
the audiences are increasing. As for the
show going off-air the channel has not informed
us about this development and as of now
we are shooting.”
After all this shuffling we only hope the
channel finally gets it right.
