Ask not
what your country can do for you - ask what you
can do for your country - John F Kennedy
On the occasion of Republic Day we asked some
of our telly stars on the most patriotic thing
that they have ever done for their country.
Anup
Soni- I’ve not done anything big but small
things in everyday life portray my love towards
the country. For example I don’t cross the signal
if it’s red and try to keep my surroundings clean.
I don’t give and take bribes. I still remember
I had repaid my car loan and only some paper work
was left when a man asked me for Rs 200 to complete
the work in five minutes. I refused and went to
seven different windows myself. I practice these
small things in life and show my respect towards
the country.
Deepa
Parab- As of now I haven’t done anything great
but I’m planning to help a child from an orphanage
by providing economic help. I think this way at
least I can help my country. Young children are
the future of a country and I’m doing my little
bit by giving them formal education and a decent
life.
Kushal
Punjabi- I have not done any big thing but
in my own way I have saluted my country. I had
received a good work offer from Dubai with a fat
salary but I preferred to stay back and work for
and in the country. Some way or the other I’m
contributing to make this country a better place
to live in. Even in the future I will inculcate
this in my children.
Lubna
Salim- I celebrate Republic Day like I do
any other festival. We hoist the flag and sing
the national anthem. I have always taught my children
to celebrate our national events. I like it when
cinema halls play the national anthem before each
and every movie. This sends the right message
to kids as well.
Sushant
Singh- I had always paid my taxes on time.
Of course helping others has always been there
but I never took it as if I’m doing something
great for the country. I will continue to do such
kind of work but will not shout from the rooftops
about it. I would rather do it and forget about
it.
Sangeeta
Ghosh- There are small little things like
providing medicines and food to the needy, paying
my taxes and helping to maintain cleanness makes
me feel that I’ve contributed something to the
country. I will always try to make this place
a beautiful place to live in.
Apara
Mehta- I personally belong to a very cultural
family. Even when I go abroad for my stage shows
I always promote my country. I want to give people
the right insight and especially people from abroad
so that their misconceptions about India are cleared
