Cars
are in the news. To be specific, the Nano is the subject of conversation cutting
across class divides. The super rich want it to gift it to their servants, the
MIG wants it for his college going kid and the scooter owner or the autowallah
wants to replace his existing vehicle with a Nano. Our
tellystars talk about their own ‘car'mic connections. I
can’t trust anybody else when it comes to driving-Sharad Malhotra |
Which
was the first car you owned? My
first car was a Hyundai Getz.
What
colour was it? Golden.
Do you still
have it? Yes,
I still have it with me. How
did you pay for it? Now
that I am doing a show and the cheques are rolling in so I can afford a car. To
be honest I hardly save but I saved for my car. The initial payment was given
by my father and since last year I am paying the E.M.I.
Do
you drive yourself? Yes,
I drive myself as I can’t trust anybody else when it comes to driving.
Talking
about the ‘Nano’, what do you think of it? Would you buy it? I
think Nano is the luxurious form of an auto, sweet and cute. It gives you value
for money. It looks nice, comfortable and petite. I would love to buy and gift
it to my near and dear ones. |
Aanchal
Dwivedi-I am emotionally attached to my first car |
Which
was the first car you owned? Santro.
What colour
was it? Black. Do
you still have it? Yes, I still have it as I am emotionally attached to
it. I also have a Scorpio now. How
did you pay for it? I
paid for it in four installments. I paid Rs fifty thousand for four months.
Do
you drive yourself? No,
I can’t drive. I have a driver. Talking
about the ‘Nano’, what do you think of it? Would you buy it? It is a nice
car which doesn’t require a lot of space. It is actually better for people who
have scooters, especially when you see four people sitting on one scooter and
that too during the monsoon. I don’t think I will buy it as I don’t need it right
now. |
Jay
Bhanushali- I feel my first car is my lucky charm |
Which
was the first car you owned? Wagon-R.
What colour
was it? Black. Do
you still have it? Oh yes. I still have it as I feel it’s my lucky charm.
After I bought this car I got my first show Kayamath and after that work
started pouring in I actually tried changing the car, for a couple of months I
was driving my brother’s car and I realised that things were not falling in place
for me. So I got back to my car. How
did you pay for it? I took a bank loan. I made a down payment of eighty
thousand rupees and pay six thousand monthly.
Do
you drive yourself? Yes,
I drive it myself. Talking
about the ‘Nano’, what do you think of it? Would you buy it? Umm..
It’s an okay car. I don’t think I will be interested in buying it. It is a very
small car and the power is also not that good. I feel if four people decide to
sit in the car then the fourth one will have to push it! Taking the Mumbai roads
in consideration which are so bad, it would become chaotic. As many people will
buy this car because of its price there will be so much traffic and chaos that
I would better travel by train. |
I
learned to drive on my first car- Tarana Raja Kapoor |
Which
was the first car you owned? Maruti-800- third hand. I bought it when I
was 20 for Rs seventy thousand. I had a choice between music and the air-conditioner
and I chose music.
What
colour was it? White.
Do
you still have it? No. How
did you pay for it? I used to anchor shows that time and so I bought the
car from my earnings.
Do
you drive yourself? Yes,
I drive myself. Actually I learned to drive on my first car. Talking
about the ‘Nano’, what do you think of it? Would you buy it? Oh!
I love it. I think it’s a great idea. It is a lovely and cute car. But I already
have an Accent and the rule is that you can’t buy a Nano if you already own a
car. |
I
will buy Nano and give it to my servants so that they can get bhaji from the
market- Abhay Vakil |
Which
was the first car you owned? Hyundai
Getz What
colour was it? Electric
blue. Do
you still have it? Yes,
I still have it.
How
did you pay for it? I
bought it from my hard earned money. I made a down payment of Rs three lakhs and
then the installments. Do
you drive yourself? Yes.
Talking
about the ‘Nano’, what do you think of it? Would you buy it? It
has its advantage and disadvantage. Advantage is that it caters to a common man.
People who have scooters now and are planning to get a better version they can
easily buy a Nano, but with this comes the biggest threat to Mumbai roads. I think
instead of making such things corporate houses should take more interest in making
better roads and more fly-overs. I would definitely love to buy it and give it
to my servants so that they can get bhaji (vegetables) from the market. |
