Last seen playing a cameo in Baa Bahoo Aur Baby, Deepshikha now returns to television after a near five month break. The sassy girl now returns to the fold with 9X's new prime time daily Dahhej.

So, what was the reason for such an extended break from television? She replies "I never took a break from television. It's just that I wasn't happy with the kind of work that was being offered to me. Most of them had young actors at the forefront. I wasn't too keen on playing second fiddle. Besides, these subjects weren't exciting"

Speaking on her character in Dahhej, Deepshikha says "I play Maya Mehta. Though, I'm not the protagonist but my character is central to the story. In fact, without Maya Mehta, there will be no Dahhej. The producers ( B.A.G.) told me that they didn't think of any other name to play Maya Mehta. She is a very strong and positive rich lady one who calls the shots in the family."

One doesn't associate actors such as Deepshikha with the normal run-of-the-mill kind roles, but doesn't it isolate her from the rest. "I've never been comfortable playing the saas-bahu roles. I don't mind doing a single show as long as it's appeals to the audience. I'm one of the very few actors in television who people associate with their real and not character names. I consider this as my biggest achievement." concludes Deepshikha.
