Having done plenty of roles in K-serials Gitanjali Tikekar is a well-known face. She started with Kahin To Milenge, Kya Hadsa Kya Haqeeqat, Kasautii Zindagii Kay and now Karam Apna Apna.

When asked why she is only doing K-serials, Gitanjali said, “Now I have taken up SAB TV’s Jersey No 10 .Actually Balaji gave me my first break. It is an association of six years plus their serials are keeping me busy. As far as Karam Apna Apna. goes it doesn’t take much effort and time. Also I am very comfortable with the unit.”

But why did she accept to play an aunt at her age? “See Karam is the only serial in which my character has not taken any leap. You also can’t rule out the fact that this is a common scenario in the television industry. Actresses of my age are in that ‘aunty’ bracket and ‘mother’ bracket. Also no one has approached me so far for a lead role,” replies Gitanjali.

What is her character in Jersey No 10? Gitanjali reveals, “I am playing the role of a physiotherapist to the cricket team. I am also their sports counsellor and I am the one who they turn to for any kind of advice. So you can say that I am the only woman surrounded by 11 men. As of now these dailies are keeping me on my toes and so I can’t even think of taking up any offer.”

So is the beautiful actress planning to get married to her sweetheart Sikandar Kharbanda? She quips, “Oh! Actually I am looking forward to getting married this year. I will be the happiest if this happens. But you know I am a very indecisive female. I may shock everyone by getting married within next ten days or I may sit unmarried for next 10 years.”

“As far as Sikandar is concerned, he is just waiting for my nod. He is all set to get to married as and when I am ready,” answers Gitanjali. Sikandar, who is busy with his Bhojpuri movies and serials like Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Zaara- Pyar Ki Saugat though is more confident and ready to get married this year. Sikandar says, “Yes! We are planning to get married. It is 99% decided from my side. I just need to take some time off for the same. We are just going with the flow.”
