As
Smriti Irani’s Viruddh
(Sony) is soon coming to an end, a
new show titled Babul Ka Aangan Chootey
Na will be replacing it. The show which
is being produced by ‘The Chota Ganpati
Creation’ will focus on the dilemma
of a girl. Scheduled for the10 pm slot the
show has Aastha Choudhary in the lead with
Sana Sayed of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
fame who plays her sister.
“It’s a story of a middle class girl who
is stuck in a dilemma. On one side it’s
her family and on the other side it’s her
husband and his parents. I have just begun
to shoot and am enjoying it thoroughly,”
says Aastha.
Elaborating on her role she says, “I play
the role of Aastha in the show too. She
is a very homely and simple person and has
inculcated the values given by her family.
After getting married she is stuck in a
problem of who should be given priority.
On one hand it’s her first karva chauth
and on the other her father has had a heart
attack. The dilemma being where should Aastha
go?”
It’s been indoctrinated that a girl after
her marriage is like a guest for her parents.
‘Shaadi ke baad pati ka ghar hi sab kuch
hota hai…’ The crucial question for
the audience being, ‘What would you have
done in a similar situation?’ she questions.
Aastha believes that the story is common.
“Yes, it is general as it caters to a general
audience. People can find this situation
in their own houses. Audiences can relate
to themselves on the show.”
Whether the audience relates to Babul
Ka Aangan Chootey Na, we will know only
after Jan 15 when the show kicks off.
