Chaitanya shares his food habits, eating spots and even a recipe

Is food the elixir of life?

Yes, it is but the consumption shouldn't exceed. It is very important to have healthy food and not just any food.

Are you a foodie?

I like to eat but I have to be conscious about what I eat as I am an actor and I have to be in shape.

Are you a veg or non-veg?

I am a non-vegetarian but of late I am trying to include a lot of vegetarian food in my diet.

Favourite cuisine: Chinese.

Favourite dish: Bhindi ki Sabzi. My mom cooks it deliciously.

Favourite restaurant: Aromas of China and Mainland China. I like going there because they score high on all three important requisites of a good restaurant that is food, ambience and service.

A must at my breakfast table… Green tea. I am very health conscious you see.

Sugar or sugarfree for my tea/coffee.. Sugar free because I have tea or coffee three times in a day on an average. If I have sugar with my beverages, then it would lead to a high intake of it.

Lunch generally consists of… Two rotis with a veg or a non-veg gravy.

For high tea I have… Sandwich or Soya milk.

Dinner generally consists of… No carbs, no rotis, no rice. Just dal and sabzi.

Dessert delights… These days I enjoy digging on ice creams. My favourite flavours are strawberry and chocolate.

One thing I can't resist.. Chocolate cakes.

My favourtie drink (non-alcoholic)… I like having milk shakes. I prefer banana milk shake.

My favourite drink (alcoholic)… I don't drink alcohol.

For a date I usually prefer… eating continental food.

At parties, I usually eat… Low calorie food. I avoid eating fried stuffs and I make a point to have salads.

Experiment with food?

Not really. I prefer to have tried and tested dishes.

Most unusual dish I've tasted… I once had a chicken dish in Hong Kong where the skin of the chicken was unpeeled and it tasted really yukky.

On the streets, I love to have.. Shwarma.

One place I would never eat again… is a road side Chinese stall. I got food poisoning after eating there.

Do you cook? Yes but the only dish I can cook very well is Bhurji.

A recipe that you can share with us.. Garlic potatoes. It is a recipe that is easy to cook and tasty to eat.

Cut potatoes in to small pieces.

Heat olive oil in a pan.

Put mashed garlic in the oil.

Drop potatoes in the pan.

Add salt to taste and amchur powder.

Stir well till the potatoes turn golden brown and serve hot
