| Most
television producers have more faith in numerology than their content. That perhaps
explains why we have the Kahaanis, Kkusums and the Dill Mill
Gayyes. The concept may not be the strongest but one can’t afford to go wrong
with the title. This
Friday, viewers will witness yet another season of Zee TV’s most popular reality
show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Before the action begins, viewers will be intrigued
by one point. A contest that’s beginning in 2008 and will run till early January
next year is being clubbed as Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009.
We
called up the show’s director, Satish Datt, who had this to say, “The winner will
be declared in 2009 and his/her career will effectively commence from 2009. That’s
the reason why we named it Challenge 2009.” Contradicting
Satish’s take, a little birdie says, “Having the show named as Sa Re.. Challenge
2008 was considered unlucky by our numerologist, Charu Haas Naik. Upon his
guidance, the channel deemed it fit to name it as …Challenge 2009.”
Television is very much a numbers game. So, if a number can rake in the
all important numbers (TRPs), there’s no harm in resorting to such measures.
