Merchant is back with a different look in a fantasy show called Arslaan on Sony.
Essaying a negative role for which Kishwar has learned to handle a sword.
“Mukul
and I have not learnt sword fighting. The fight master tells us the technique
to handle the sword and we follow him,” says Kishwar.
Talking about
her character in the show she explains, “I portray the role of Mikawi who is Zaakfaar
(Mukul Dev) partner in the show. She loves him passionately and will go to any
extent to fulfill his needs and ambitions.”
Not many people know that she
was a bit hesitant about her look in the show. “Yes I was uncertain initially
but then I thought that it’s a good break from the usual vamps and saas-bahu soaps.
One needs guts to wear such clothes. Many people on the sets call me bakri
(goat) when they see me in my Mikawi avatar. Even the witches look better
than me,” she laughs. “My wig is definitely very heavy and during
my initial days of shooting I was scared that my wig would fall off during the
fight sequences. Now I’m getting used to it,” she adds further. What
made her accept a fantasy show and not a mytho or a reality show as is the current
craze? “My face is not very Indian. To wear those clothes and portray myself in
a period drama would not work thus there is a big no for mythos,” informs the
actress. “Well talking about the reality show, yes I’m dying to
a reality show. To be frank enough I would love to do Big Boss 2,” she
quips. Kishwar is also acting in a play with Tanaaz and Bhaktiyar
call Daddy Cool. “I just returned from Muscat where we performed the play.”
Not many people know that Kishwar has an eye on Bollywood also. “Recently
I have done a fresh portfolio and I do have some plans for Hindi Cinema. Talks
are on but there is nothing concrete as yet,” she concludes. Until
then she will battle it out on the small screen.
