| We’ve
seen him at loggerheads with his co-judges on Voice of India. Well, singer
Abhijeet Bhattacharya is once again seen waging a verbal war – though this time
on a different battle field. The Ek Se Badhkar Ek judge took offence to
host Ravi Kissen questioning his judgment on singer Emon
Chatterjee. Emon, the Indian Idol 3 contestant has often been termed
a Sonu Nigam clone not just for his singing but also for his looks. In one of
the episodes, Abhijeet lashed out at Emon for resorting to such easy measures.
Ravi, who is known to be friendly with Emon, countered Abhijeet’s judgment by
saying, “Even though Emon tried to sing like Sonu he should be appreciated as
he did a very good job at it.” This enraged Abhijeet and what followed was a war
of words. When contacted, Abhijeet had this to say, “I’ve always
stood-up for an original voice. Unfortunately, on that day Emon even put the word
duplicate to shame. We (Hindi film industry) are fighting against piracy, but
encouraging such singing is like listening to a pirated track.” Adding
further, he says, “I have nothing personal against Emon. My comments were aimed
for his betterment. I’m glad that he’s taken it in the right spirit and in the
following episode he gave a miraculous performance. What upset me is Ravi’s countering
my point which is tantamount to questioning my credibility. I have had a word
with the production house and they’ve asked such people to stick to their task
only.’ Ravi Kissen was unavailable for comment. Now
we know why this show is titled ‘Ek Se Badhkar Ek.
