Money.
That's what drives everyone in the final analysis, whether in the glamour world
of acting or the hard grind of scripting and producing. Cashin' In sits down with
TV celebs to know well they handle their financial matters, and tracks their spending
patterns. Kashmira Irani believes in making investments and saving money.
She is not one who will be seen blowing money unnecessarily.
How
important is money for you? It is a necessity to survive in this world.
Money is very important but it does not meanthe world to me. It is not a
priority to me. Are you an impulsive buyer? I don’t enjoy shopping
very much so I am not an impulsive buyer. My elder sister who is an air hostess
shops for me as she travels to various places. I think twice before buying anything.
I never feel that I have to buy a particular thing. What are the investments
you have made? I have made a lot of investments in insurance policies.
I have also invested my money in a house jointly bought by me and my sister. What
is your most expensive purchase? A diamond-studded watch which I bought
from my cousin’s husband who trades in them. Do you feel financially
secure? Yes, I feel very much financially secure especially since I handle
my money so wisely. Who handles your expenses? I handle them myself.
My mom guides me with my expenses like any parent would do. What was
your first salary? What you did with it? My first salary was Rs 10,000
that I earned by doing a fashion show for my cousin. I blew half the money partying
and eating out. Rest I deposited in my saving account. How much money
do you carry every day? I carry around Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500. Many I times
I forget to withdraw money from the ATM and find myself running out of money I
don’t even like carrying a lot of cash because I have had a few bad experiences
in the past. Do you invest in the stock market? I don’t invest
in the stock market but in the future I may invest. I will take advice from experts
before making any investments. Any advice for investors? I
would just like to say that be wise. It is not easy to earn money and one should
value money. Even I never understood the value of money until I started earning
myself.
