Since reality shows are the latest craze on every possible channel it is no wonder that they all end up looking similar. After dance shows and singing shows and dance cum singing shows and acting shows we now have a slightly different one- a saas bahu reality show. And before you jump to any conclusion – no it’s not a Balaji show. Titled Saas Vs Bahu it is being produced by Swastik Productions for Sahara One.

Saas v/s Bahu is a dance based reality show but the difference being that the competition is between the saas and bahu. It has been heard that the production house is roping in fifteen on-screen saas bahu jodis to compete with each other.

Some of the names that have supposedly been approached are Shilpa Shinde and Shoma Anand (of Maayka) Himani Shivpuri and Lata Sabharwal (of Ghar ek Sapna), Aroona Irani and Shayantani Ghosh (of Naagin).

“Yes, I was approached for this show but I won’t be doing it as time is a restraint. I am already doing another reality show Ek Se Badhkar Ek along with Naagin and Ghar Ek sapna, so there is no time for one more reality show. I was first approached for this show along with my Aroona Irani who plays my Saas in Naagin and later due to unknown reasons, Himani Shivpuri was approached to participate with me,” said Shayantani.

Himani Shivpuri is herself unclear about her Bahu with whom she might participate in this show. “I think Lata Sabharwal who plays my elder Bahu in Ghar Ek Sapna was approached for taking part in the show with me but I was also hearing that Shayantani would me paired with me,” supposed Himani. She is contemplating on being a part of this reality dance show. She said, “I met Lata yesterday and she was insisting that I say yes to this show but dancing scares me.”

Barkha Bisht who was approached has refused citing lack of time. “Both my on air shows, Doli Sajake and Popkorn don’t leave me with much free time,” she reasoned.

Shilpa who has kept away from accepting any reality show couldn’t resist them any more. She is yet to sign on the dotted line but has agreed to be a part of it. “I will be participating in this show for sure,” declared Shilpa.

“Earlier I was not very happy with the reality show business but there is not much option left on TV these days. You can either do the role of a weeping girl or reality shows, so an artist has to make a compromise and settle in the existing scenario,” says Shilpa.

One of the important reasons for her to participate in Saas v/s Bahu is her co-actor Shoma Anand who is her Saas in the show Maayka. “Shomaji was keen on being a part of it. Later even I felt that it will be a great fun to participate in a show like this with Shomaji,” exuded Shilpa.

Saas Shoma Anand says, “I am very fond of dancing and that is the reason why I am going to be a part of this show. Though we have not signed the papers, we have said yes to this show and it is confirmed that we are doing it.”

Siddharth Tiwari of ‘Swastik’ Productions says, “It is too early to give any details. I will be able to comment only when things fall in place.”

The shooting for Saas v/s Bahu is scheduled to start from June onwards and is likely to go on for three months. The telecast date is still to be decided.
