It seems Babul
Supriyo took last week’s thrashing from judges quite seriously and
has worked upon his performance. The singer who received some harsh comments from
the jury especially Prasoon Joshi for his last performance has bounced back with
a hit performance this week on NDTV Imagine’s Dhoom
Macha De. Babul sang the hit song Yeh Kya Hua Kaise Hua
from Amar Prem (starring Sharmila Tagore and Rajesh Khanna). His rendition
of the song left Sharmila
Tagore, Jaspinder Narula and Jassi in tears. A choked Sharmila said,
“I am nearly in tears as the performance is from the heart.” Sharmila also asked
for a hug from Babul Supriyo. Richa
Sharma was heard saying, “It has been the best performance till date on Dhoom
Macha De. I am struggling hard to control my tears.” When contacted Richa
adds, “Babul's was the best performance in the last two months since the show
has started. This is a live performance based show and not a singing show. At
times during live performances the notes do tend to get shaky. Babul is very honest
and humble and does not think that he is a great singer though he is. We were
all choked after his performance. I too went and hugged him.” The audiences
were also excited on hearing Babul. Prasoon Joshi also complimented Babul for
his performance. This week Babul will be seen in the danger zone
along with Sunita Rao and Kamaal Khan. Babul’s landing up in the danger zone left
fellow contestants and jury in shock. Shankar Mahadevan said, “Babul
you were overconfident as a singer as everyone knows that you are a good singer
so this jhatka (shock) of the danger zone worked for you.” Sharmila
too said that she never expected Babul to be in the danger zone as he is a very
good singer. After Babul’s performance it became evident that he
will not get evicted. The tough fight of survival will be between Sunita Rao and
Kamaal Khan. Kamaal who was compared to Rishi Kapoor by Sharmila received flak
from Prasoon. He said, “Your voice is God’s gift and you have done no value addition
to your performance.” The episode will be telecast on Thursday 13th
March at 8:30 p.m.
