Zee TV’s Maayka’s
has witnessed many an upheaval, including a major cast coup but yet have managed
to maintain their popularity with the fans. However, a few fans are disappointed
with the track involving Veer and Soni (played by Vineet Raina and Shilpa Shinde).
The friction between one of the most loved on-screen couples has met with some
heated response from few die-hard Maayka fans. Says
Sumila of USA, “We need a change in her character. We're all tired of watching
her being abused since for a long time. The producers and writers are damaging
the characters of Veer and Soni and making everyone else in the world hate Soni
for her lack of standing up. Enough is enough. We need a change in the script.
This is getting ridiculous; we need her character to take a stand.” Adds
Puja “We would like to know when we will see a change in her character from being
shy, evasive, and silent to more the defensive, fighting character we want her
to be.. We love Soni and Veer aka Shilpa and Vineet. These writers are making
the audience hate Soni's character, due to weakness. We don't want that to happen.
The writers/producers are ruining Soni's and soon to be Veer's image.”
Tellychakkar called up Shilpa Shinde to respond to these fan mails but
she disconnected the line twice. We then called Vineet, who was more than happy
to justify the current track. “I
personally sat with the creative team and we charted out the new track. I was
then aware of the possible reactions from fans and so we ensured that everything
is carried out in a subtle way. There have been tensions in Veer and Soni’s relationship
but it is no breakdown. Plus, these differences have been created by a third person.
Such a plot adds the necessary spice to any tale.” So, have these
changes been taken keeping the TRPs in mind? Vineet replies, “That wasn’t the
prime objective but the truth is that our TRPs have soared with the inception
of the new track. We’ve been constantly crossing the 5 TRP mark regularly. In
fact, this result shows that the current track has been accepted.” But
what about those unhappy fans? Vineet enunciates, “Their resentment explains how
emotionally attached they are with us. I’m sure as the track progresses, they
will be fine with it.”
