I am very inquisitive
Jaya Bhattacharya

There are times in all our lives, when we desire the need for divine intervention; times, when life refuses to acknowledge the seemingly obvious and decides to take refuge in a world that is far away from ours. A world that gives the body and mind the spiritual healing that it yearns for. We, at Telly Chakkar.com decided to delve deeper into the lives of our favourite stars and know a little about their lives beyond the obvious.

Define God
God is an energy that runs the whole world.

What is spirituality to you?
Spirituality to me is doing what makes you happy and what makes others happy. I don’t hurt people intentionally and that is my definition of spirituality. I may not associate God with spirituality necessarily. You can get connected to spirituality by meeting a human who gives you peace, solace and happiness.

What special bond/connection do you feel with God and your inner-self?
I am a very inquisitive person. I remember as a kid when my mother used to ask me not to eat non-vegetarian, I deliberately used to go and break raw eggs in my mouth. I then used to go back to my mother and ask her how it is going to affect me. This has also to do with my convent education and the majority of my father’s friends being Muslims. As a result I turned out to be a mélange of all the religions. Now whenever I pass a temple, gurudwara, mosque or church I just say Hi to God and tell Him that I am fine and He need not worry about me as there are many others who actually need Him.

How much do you believe in the magic and power of prayers?
By far none of my prayers have been answered by Him so from my side it’s no comments.

Who do you credit for your ability to overcome hurdles, if any?
I believe a lot in my karma. I have faith in my self, my talent and virtues. This is what helps me to overcome all hurdles.

What kind of books do you read? Especially to get connected to God and your spiritual side?
I read nothing on these topics.

What do you do on a daily basis to remain connected to God and your inner-self?
Nothing at all.

Astrology, numerology and tarot reading? Have you taken help of such occult sciences?
I have this Panditji (astrologer) who regularly visits my place. So whenever he asks me to do something I question him back. I do not believe in all these sciences but some of his predictions have turned true so I have generated faith in him. But I still shoot him back with my questions. Whenever he calls up and asks me to take care as at that point of time my stars may not favour me. I shoot him back with questions like why is it and when is it going to happen? But I like him as he always has a solution to every problem and he exudes positive energy.

Do you fast?
I do not fast. I remember once this same panditji asked me to observe a fast for 10 Tuesdays for my then boyfriend. So I started observing fasts and my boyfriend who was a Muslim used to get me food. I had told him about my fast so he used to make pasta for me which continued for five-six Tuesdays. Then one day one of my friends told me that pasta has garlic in it and so all my pain and effort has gone in vain. I did not have the perseverance and patience to do it all over again.

Do you follow any rituals?
I don’t believe in rituals where we offer God a variety of sweets and food and we end up fasting. If it is God’s birthday we too are invited to the party and then we have all the right to eat. So I don’t believe in such rituals.

What is your comfort zone?
My comfort zone is coming back home and cuddling my pets.

What keeps you going?
My belief, my self-confidence and my responsibilities keep me going.

Any wish that you would want God to fulfill?
There is something that I have asked God and want him to fulfill. He better fulfill it else we will have a very bad fight.
