12-year-old Anamika Chaudhary was over the moon after she won Sa Re Ga Ma Pa
L’il Champs. “I simply can’t think of any words to describe
what I’m currently going through,” said Anamika after her victory. “I don’t know
what to say. I’d just like to thank all the people who have voted for me. It’s
precisely their blessings that worked magic for me,” said the winner. With
the coveted title also came a cool cash prize of Rs.20 lakhs and a Hyundai i10.
But does she know how many zeroes are there in 20 lakhs? Looking lost, Anamika
sought help from her mom, “Maa, how many zeroes are there in 20 lakhs?”
Though Anamika didn’t comprehend the zeroes, she sure knew what to do with
the car and the money. “I’m happy to have this car. My parents will drive me to
school. Plus we’ll go for long drives. Also, I will buy lots of clothes for myself.”
Anamika had expressed her desire to quit the show fearing the illness her
co-contestant Smita Nandi’s father had undergone. “That was foolish on my part
to have said that. I didn’t know what happened to me that day. I’m over it now
and glad to have won this contest.” Is she prepared to be treated
like a star when she returns to school? “That will be great. I’m looking forward
to meeting all my class mates. I’ve never let singing affect my studies. In fact,
I’m a top ranker.” Small Anamika is already harbouring big ambitions.
She says, “I want to sing for Bebo (Kareena) but before that I want to meet her
personally. Her sister, Karisma, promised me that when she came in for our episodes.”
On a parting note, the L’il Champ says that the most valuable lesson she’s
learned from this triumph is never to be over- confident. With having faced such
challenges the young Anamika has matured overnight and now the ‘Little Champ’
is ready to face bigger challenges.
