Not without my partner

Siddharth Anand Kumar, director, on his actor-singer wife Roshni Chopra.Courtship of eight years. Married on December 10th, 2006

How does it feel to have a successful wife?
I feel very proud of her. She has worked very hard to reach where she is today. She is harvesting success for all her hard work that she has put in till date. Its not easy to survive in this industry.

Does she seek advice from you?
All the time and for every small thing.

What is your mantra for a successful marriage?
The success mantra is to give your partner a lot of space. I used the term partner as marriage means partnership in life which in turn is the basis of marriage. I don’t believe in traditional male-female roles where a female is limited to only cooking and running the house. I want my wife to go out and explore her talent.

What is the biggest hurdle that you have faced?
This industry is full of trying times. At times you are on your toes working a couple of months at a stretch. During those times you do not get to spend time with your partner except for two-three hours a day. On the other hand when you have nothing to do and you are sitting idle you tend to get on each other nerves. There are ups and downs in life but one has to exercise self-control.

Do you think you are sacrificing?
I don’t think I have sacrificed for her till date. I don’t let the word sacrifice come to my mind. Whatever I have done for her is something out of desire, willingness and love. I can’t tag it as sacrifice.

What is that one thing that you like the most about her?
She is very loving and generous. This is not just limited to her family and friends but she is the same with everyone. She is very kind.
