Held at LA’s famed Nokia Theater, the two-hour finale is expected to produce one of the closest results in Idol’s seven-year history. In one corner is David Archuleta, the teen prodigy whose moving semifinal rendition of John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ set a benchmark for the rest of the season.

He will be competing for the title against David Cook, a rocker whose soulful reworking of Mariah Carey’s ‘Always Be My Baby’ and Michael Jackson’s ‘Billie Jean’ earned raves from the Idol judges and turned the 25-year-old into the competition’s frontrunner.

While Archuleta and Cook go head to head, fans can also look forward to seeing this year’s Top 12 reunite for the last time. Before America’s votes are revealed, the two-hour celebration will also feature special performances and surprise guests.
