Though
the two love birds shared screen space in
Anuj Saxena’s Kulvaddhu cupid struck
them much after the show got over. It was
a night after their pack-up on different
sets of different shows, when a rather reticent
and shy Shaleen asked Daljeet over a cup
of coffee and then followed innumerable
cups of coffee which continue till date.
The couple is currently seen on the popular
dance based reality show Nach Baliye
4 and is receiving rave reviews for
their talent on the show. We caught up with
Daljeet and Shaleen on the eve of their
birthday.
The much-in-love couple shares some intimate
details with Tellychakkar.
How old do both of you turn tonight?
Daljeet:
By default he is two hours older to me.
Shaleen:
I can’t tell you my age as with that you
will know Daljeet’s age which is ethically
not correct. As one should not be asking
a girl’s age (laughs).
What
are your birthday plans?
Shaleen:
This birthday has been full of surprises.
Last night I gave her a surprise. Till the
night before we were getting bored and thus
decided not to do anything and just go out
for a coffee, have dinner and go home.
Daljeet:
He called me up at midnight and told me
that he wanted me to see some property that
he is planning to buy and I believed him.
After driving for a while we reached a bungalow
which was lit up. Shaleen halted the car
in front of the bungalow and played my favourite
number Maula Mere. He took me inside
and I cut a cake and he then gifted me a
puppy.
What have you gifted to each other?
Daljeet:
As of now I could just manage this party
for him and trust me it was not as easy
as it seems.
Shaleen:
I think this is the biggest surprise anyone
could give me ever. She had managed to call
my family and friends from my home-town
Jabalpur and I am truly touched.
Have you christened the puppy?
Shaleen:
I have gifted her a Lhasa Apso and I would
like to ask the readers to suggest some
names and we will choose the best suitable
name.
Daljeet:
Yes, we would like our fans to suggest a
few names.
Define love?
Daljeet:
Love is Shaleen. Everything that starts
and ends with the person called Shaleen
defines love for me. I have discovered love
in him.
Shaleen:
I feel love keeps growing for ever till
the relationship lives.
When did you realize it was love?
Daljeet:
Shaleen generally doesn’t call till after
9 pm. One day suddenly he called me up at
2:00 a.m. and asked me to meet him over
a cup of coffee. Luckily I had packed up
for the day by then. I was always fascinated
by the coffee which these cyclewallahs
carry at night but being a girl I could
never have one as I found it very unsafe.
So I asked him if I could have one and he
said yes. That was the first time I met
him officially and we chatted for over four
hours and rest is all known.
Shaleen:
When I realised that I am truly in love
with her I didn’t want her to let go by
any chance. Very rarely you end up ‘trapping’
such a good female. I have had done so many
negative roles that all the aunties and
their daughters used to run away the minute
they spotted me.
So aren’t you planning to shed off your
negative image?
Shaleen:
I have stopped doing negative roles. I am
doing a full fledged positive role in Grihasthi.
And also in my upcoming show Rang.
The one thing that you like most about
each other?
Daljeet:
The fact that noone understands his jokes.
When he jokes people find him rude and most
of the time I have to clarify his intent.
Shaleen:
I like the fact that she is Daljeet Kaur
and she is just so perfect and mind-blowing.
I can’t let her go.
Is marriage on the cards?
Shaleen:
Yes, we are planning to get married after
we leave this party! Actually tomorrow I
don’t have time as I have to pay my electricity
bill (laughs). On a serious note, I feel
selecting your partner is a very personal
thing and getting married is majorly for
society. As of now we are enjoying our personal
lives together so much so that society will
have to wait for sometime.
Daljeet are you planning to take up
any other show than Santaan?
I am happy and content doing Santaan.
The rest of my time is consumed by the rehearsals
and shooting of Nach Baliye. Even
if I take up a new show it would be only
post Nach.
Can we see both of you doing some show
together?
Daljeet:
I really hope so. We have been offered some
dailies together and if everything works
well than nothing like it. Nach Baliye
is an excuse to spend sometime together.
Coming back to Nach Baliye, do
you think these wild card entries are justified?
Daljeet:
I think when you are entering a competition
then you must be prepared for all the challenges.
It can be two wild card entries or three
or for that matter even if Karisma Kapur
herself comes as a competitor it would be
fair.
Who do you think is your biggest competitor
on Nach?
Daljeet:
I think we are competing with ourselves.
One has to grow with every performance and
we have been giving our 200% to the show.
I think our sole aim is to outperform our
last performance.
What do you have to say about the strike?
Shaleen:
I pray to The God that strike gets over
as soon as possible so that people get back
to work.
