There
are times in all our lives, when we desire
the need for divine intervention; times,
when life refuses to acknowledge the seemingly
obvious and decides to take refuge in a
world that is far away from ours. A world
that gives the body and mind the spiritual
healing that it yearns for. We, at Telly
Chakkar.com decided to delve deeper into
the lives of our favourite stars and know
a little about their lives beyond the obvious.
Define God?
One cannot define God in a line. I believe
that He is the super power who is controlling
the entire universe. There are different
names given to Him by different religions
but the power remains the same. He is the
strong power that has brought this big universe,
planetary field, magnetic field into existence
and is controlling it.
What is spirituality to you?
Spirituality is something very personal.
Every individual has got inner spirituality,
yoga can be a termed as spirituality. I
believe when your soul feels healthy, pious,
clean and clear that is when you turn spiritual.
Spirituality means deep solace and love
within you. Spirituality happens when your
soul feels loved.
What
special bond/connection do you feel with
God and your inner-self?
Every human being is connected to God in
some or the other way. We all have come
to this earth through some super power.
We get rewarded or punished for our deeds
in the same life. But for me the tale is
a bit different. I get instant punishment
and rewards. I am not an atheist nor do
I visit the temple regularly but I still
feel some connection with The Almighty.
I always feel that He is keeping an eye
on me.
How much do you believe in the magic
and power of prayers?
People who pray are convinced that prayers
can do wonders. It is not about the words
that form the prayer but the belief that
does the magic. After offering prayers one
feels that extra strength and confidence
in oneself which helps you to achieve your
goals. There are a few people who pray even
when they are happy as generally people
resort to God when they face problems in
life. I feel when you pray during your good
days, God gives you lesser problems. But
when we are sad and disappointed in life
God tests our patience and reminds us how
we conveniently forget Him during our good
times.
Who do you credit for your ability to
overcome the hurdles, if any?
I would like to credit my will power and
my sincerity towards my profession. Because
of my inner strength I have been able to
take care of the adverse situations in my
life. Life for me has gone dramatically
wrong but I have never got swayed by its
challenges. I strongly feel that God has
been very kind to me and has bestowed me
with the power and self-confidence to face
all the adversities. I have faced so many
personal hassles but thankfully I was not
pushed to the limit that I would cry over
the problems. By God’s grace I have not
turned alcoholic or become a drug addict.
What kind of books do you read? Especially
to get connected to God and your spiritual
side?
I don’t read any spiritual books.
What do you do on a daily basis to remain
connected to God and your inner-self?
I have my special moments early morning.
When I am all by myself, I get connected
to God for 4 to 5 minutes. It is a very
personal moment where I talk my heart out
to The Almighty. I had never complained
to God but always thanked him for whatever
He has blessed me with.
In an industry that is so materialistic,
how do you manage to retain your inner-self?
It’s not just the industry but everyone
in the world is materialistic and that includes
me as well. But I have not given priority
to wealth and career as much. There was
a time when I was offered exorbitant money
on TV and I could have easily made lakhs
a month but I followed my conscience and
opted out as I didn’t want to do TV then.
I have done civil engineering and MBA but
still I decided to pursue my dream of becoming
an actor. For me following my dreams is
more important than possessing a Mercedes
Benz. I do what satisfies my creativity
and inner soul.
Astrology, numerology and tarot reading?
Though I believe in the existence of the
occult sciences I have not taken any help.
I wear a yellow sapphire at my mother’s
insistence and I acknowledge that I have
been feeling positive changes since then.
I have also read the works of famous astrologer
Linda Goodman which has impressed me a lot.
Do you fast?
No, I don’t fast.
Following rituals?
I don’t follow any rituals. But during
Diwali I sit in the puja with my
family as I don’t want to be the one who
is not with the family despite being in
the family.
What is your comfort zone?
I unwind myself with a game of squash or
table tennis. Gymming also unwinds me to
an extent. But of late I have realised that
I have become a TV buff. I love to watch
sports and news channels. When I am at home
TV is never switched off.
What keeps you going?
The fact that I have responsibility towards
my family keeps me going. I feel that I
can’t slow down in life as it will disappoint
my family. I have chosen a profession that
is very risky and so I have to prove something
to all who look upto me. I used to be very
ambitious earlier and I feel I am getting
the same zeal back in me. Whenever you slow
down it means that you are dead. You cannot
accelerate when you slow down.
Any wish/votive that you would want
God to fulfill?
I just want God to make this world a peaceful
and better place to live. There should be
no frictions, enmity and animosity based
on religions. If this happens I will be
the happiest.
