Gone
are the days when television producers were
loathe to spending much other than on stars.
Today television has the financial muscles
and can no longer be considered as the poor
cousin of cinema. The stakes are too high
and thus TV producers are leaving no stone
unturned in putting up their best show.
So, if it means constructing a society then
so be it.
Producer
Asit Modi of Neela Telefilms has created
history of sorts by constructing the biggest
outdoor set for his show Taarak
Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah
on SAB TV. The show is centered on the lives
of people of Gokuldham society.
Speaking on the set, Asit Modi says, “The
society is spread across 25-30,000 sq ft
in area. There are three wings which have
six flats in each. We’ve also created a
temple and a garden. There are no flats
as such but we’ve constructed just balconies.
The indoor shooting takes place at Kandivili.”
When asked how much money he’s spent on
the outdoor set, Asit replied, “I can’t
reveal you the amount but I can assure you
that we’ve a spent a bounty on it. You wouldn’t
believe but the entire set was created in
just two months.”
