Actors
moving into production is nothing new. While
some don the producers
hat to mint money, others do it for their
creative satisfaction. Rahul Raj Singh (also
known as Vansh from Mata
Ki Chowki) is becoming a
producer for a third reason. "I watched
a Bhojpuri film recently and liked it. But
when I saw some other movies, I realised
that they were degrading Bhojpuri culture.
So I thought of making my own film and proving
to the world that you can make a good film
and also maintain your culture's dignity,"
says Singh who had a passion for films right
from his childhood. He is producing two
Bhojpuri films and eagerly awaiting their
completion and release. Singh also acted
in Ambar Dhara where he played a
blind man called Kunal. MKC is his
second show and he is glad that this show
is no 1 at the 10:30pm slot.
But that is not all this multi-talented
actor is doing. He is also opening a dance
academy in Mumbai. "I always feel that
dancing is a very important component of
our films and serials. It is a must-know
for all actors. So I am opening this dancing
school called Professional Dance Academy
which will teach you all about dance. There
are many schools in Mumbai which take you
for a ride in the name of teaching dancing.
I want to change that culture and develop
an academy where you can truly learn dancing,"
explains an excited Singh.
If you thought that was enough to handle,
hold your breath. Singh has also been a
cricketer and played the Ranji Trophy for
his home state Bihar. "I am starting
a cricket team called Yuva which will have
talented players from different locations,"
says the actor who is all set to tie the
knot with his girlfriend of four years --
Sougata Mukherjee. "She used to be
a model earlier and now works with an airline
as an air hostess. We met when I used to
work as a model in Kolkata. She has been
by my side through the good and bad times
and we will be engaged in the next couple
of months," confesses Singh. Best of
luck Rahul!
