It
does not matter that Vinod
Kambli is not a part of the Indian
team anymore but he always wanted to be
a part of everyone’s life. And that’s why
he takes new challenges to remain alive
in everyone’s memory. After cricket, films
and singing its time for some comedy now.
Kambli is currently exploring his comic
side in Comedy Circus 20-20.
Vinod
Kambli shares his experiences in a special
interview with Tellychakkar:
From cricket to films and now its television?
Do you want to be the Jack of all trades?
Yes, why not? I think I am the Jack of
all trades. I have done all the things that
anyone would only dream of.
What made you step in to Comedy Circus
20-20 and how are you preparing yourself
to make people laugh?
Actually the makers of the show approached
me for the very first season of Comedy
Circus but I had other commitments at
that point of time. Finally I managed to
be in Comedy Circus 20-20. There
is also a comic side in me that I would
love to show. Even my name ‘Vinod’ itself
means a joke in Marathi language.
How does it feel when in a comedy show
someone comments on your past life?
Well, I will not lie but sometimes it does
hurt. But the challenge of comedy is whether
you can you laugh at yourself. And according
to me the one who does that is a great comedian.
How is your rapport with your on-screen
partner Rajveer? Being a good actor herself
does she help you with your performance?
Oh! We share a great rapport on the sets.
She is a great stand- up comedian. Sometimes
she teaches me how to act and react. We
also discuss how we can bring more humour
to our act.
Considering that you are on the show
can we expect different judges from cricket?
Well that is the channel’s decision. But
if they want me to call someone I will try
my best. And I think handling Ajay (Jadeja)
as a judge is more than enough because if
another cricketer comes in than no one will
be able to handle us.
Do your cricketer friends cheer you
for your new inning?
I don’t want to comment on that. They are
happy with their lives and I am happy with
mine. But Ajay Jadeja and Sachin Tendulkar
are still my best friends.
Your favourite TV show?
Apart from Comedy Circus I like
Yes Boss on SAB.
Your favourite actor on television?
Rakesh Bedi of Yes Boss. That guy
can make you laugh anytime.
Any role that you want to play on television?
I would love to work in Yes Boss.
