I like making my own statement - Neha Mehta

Our Shakuntala of television Neha Mehta is draped in saris on the screen but it is denims she swears by. Find out how she defines fashion and what is her style mantra.

Define fashion?

I think fashion is neither created nor should it be followed. Nobody can define fashion. It is something that comes from within. Always wear outfits that suit you and make you feel comfortable.

Who chooses your clothes?

I choose my clothes. Others can offer suggestions but I buy only those outfits that I think will look good on me.

Do you like to accessorize yourself?

No, I don’t accessorise myself much. I just keep it simple as I believe that the simpler you are the better you look.

Is there any particular brand that you prefer for clothes?

No, I am not one of those who makes a statement by following a particular brand.

What is your favourite destination for shopping?

Well I like to shop in London. It is the best place to shop because you find some very nice and rare stuff there.

Which are the clothes that make you feel comfortable?

I like wearing denim jeans and a top the most because I think I look good in denims.

Who is your favourite designer?

None, I like making my own statement.

A must have in your purse?

My cell phone and lip balm.

What are the make-up products that you prefer?

I have no brand preference.

A fashion tip.

Never follow trends. Be different from the crowd and make your own style statement.

A make- up tip.

Please don’t be over made-up. Try to wear as little simple make-up as you can because it is good for your skin.
