Rookie actor Prateek Shukla is the new male lead in Shubh Kadam (earlier Kaisi Laagi Lagan). The boy from Allahabad takes over from Asmit as the new Raghav. However, the question that begs is why was Asmit replaced when the show seemed to be doing well?

The story goes that while Asmit was doing a fine job, his boyish looks went against him. The 21-year-old looked younger than his co-actor Mahi Vij. Raghav is a married man and Asmit looked more like Pratha’s (Mahi Vij) younger brother than husband.

Confirming the news, Asmit says, “Yes, it’s true that I was replaced because I’m said to be looking too young. Well, I don’t have qualms over this but I hope the guy who replaces me looks older and can act better than me too. If he fails to do that then, I might feel a bit aggrieved.”

If that’s the reason for his ouster then why didn’t anyone think of this before casting Asmit and Mahi? Asmit replies, “Well, that’s why I was shocked when I was first given the bad news. However, I didn’t complain when they (producers) chose me and nor am I complaining now that they have me out.”

Producer Siddharth Malhotra remained unavailable for comment.
