Ajay
Gehi, whom we last saw in an episodic of
Saas Vs Bahu reality show is a very
happy and content man these days. And he
has every reason to be so. After a hiatus
of almost 4 years, the talented actor is
back in news with an upcoming Mani Ratnam
film -- Ravana. Speaking exclusively
to Tellychakkar in an interview, Ajay says,
"After Maqbool, this is the
first film I will be doing. The gap between
these two films is close to five years!
I am really excited about this movie."
Mani Ratnam liked Ajay's work in Maqbool
and selected him for the movie.
Ajay
is playing Abhishek Bachchan's brother in
the movie. "As you must be aware, confidentiality
clauses prohibit me from disclosing anything
further about the role, but let me tell
you that it is quite unique and different
from the roles viewers have seen me in till
now," says Ajay who has just finished
few shooting schedules. "We have shot
in a number of locations across the country,
including some very exotic places. There
is some work still left to be done and few
more locales to be finalised. Once that
is completed -- expected date being June
-- the film will be completed. It was a
great experience for me working with Mani
Sir and Abhishek," says an excited
Ajay. "The story, contrary to what
people feel, is not an adaptation of Ramayana.
It is a very interesting and unique topic,
like everything else that Mani Ratnam does,"
says Ajay.
Abhishek, true to his prankful nature,
played some practical jokes on Ajay as well.
"For a particular schedule outside
Mumbai, we used to have early morning shoots
daily. We also got used to it and used to
be ready for the shoot really early. One
day while I was asleep, Abhishek called
me on my phone and asked me why I had not
come down for the shot. I really got scared
and thought I had forgotten my schedule.
I apologised to him and somehow got ready
and rushed to the shot. Only to realise
that he played a prank on me and I did not
have a early morning schedule that day!"
Ajay fondly remembers.
Ajay has been completely off the radar
for quite some time now. What happened to
him? "Actually, I had to work a lot
on my look and you will see me in a completely
different avatar in this film. Since we
wanted this to be a surprise, I have been
off all parties and functions. I have also
avoided the media completely. This is the
first time I am speaking to the media, ever
since Ravana started," explains
Ajay. Ajay is glad that he waited so long
for this and thankful to almighty to give
him this second chance after Maqbool.
