In
the last few months, we’ve reported extensively
on Edit 2 productions’ show Bhootwala
Serial. The only question
that remained unanswered was when the show
will launch. This daily finally launches
from 23 February and will air at 10.00 pm
on SAB.
The
story is based on two friends, Vicky (Rajesh
Kumar) and Ram (Dhruv Singh) who fear their
looming bankruptcy after having lost a hefty
sum of borrowed money in the share market.
The plot revolves around their numerous
attempts to recover the money and return
it to their lender – Lala Pathan. They see
a ray of hope when Vicky learns of the inevitable
death of his wealthy grandfather who leaves
him an old bungalow. Vicky realizes that
the only way he can clear his debt is by
selling off his inheritance. Together with
his friend Ram, he decides to renovate and
sell of the house at a profit. To keep the
cash coming, he starts to use the bungalow
as a guest house.
But
things are not really as simply as they
seem. Vicky and Ram soon find out that they
–are not the only residents of this huge
lodge. With an eerie presence felt all times,
they are staying with none other than a
family of ghosts, headed by Amarnath Bhandari
(Kiku Sharda). The poltergeists aren’t prepared
to leave their territory and so they try
every trick to get rid of Vicky and his
friends. Bhootwala Serial is basically
about this tug-of-war between the living
and the dead.
Announcing the launch of the show, SAB
business head Anooj Kapoor says, “In keeping
with SAB’S strategy of relevant and ongoing
innovation within the comedy genre, Bhootwala
Serial is India’s first horror comedy
on television. It deftly combines humor
and comedy to create a very enjoyable and
unique family viewing experience.”
