The many 'firsts' on Indian Idol

This season of Indian Idol is seeing quite a few firsts. For the first time, two of the three finalists are girls. For the first time, a song has been especially composed for the Grand Finale; a song that Indian Idol judges, both past and present, have come together and composed.

For the first ever time on Indian Idol, judge Javed Akhtar has written lyrics for a song composed by fellow judge Annu Malik, and has been sung by ex-judges Alisha Chinoy and Udit Narayan, as well as current judge Kailash Kher.

The top 14 contestants of Season 4 have performed the chorus for this foot-tapping number. Needless to say, everyone will miss Sonu Nigam's singing and Farah Khan's choreography. When the song was being recorded, Sonali Bendre joined the gang to lend her support. The composition by Annu Malik will be revealed to audiences just before the winner of Indian Idol 4 is announced at the Grand Finale on March 1.
