A
few days back stand- up comedian Raju
Srivastav announced that he had
been offered a ticket by the Congress to
contest for the Lok Sabha polls. However,
this may not be completely true, say party
members.
The
truth is that the Congress party never made
an offer to the comedian. On the contrary,
Raju himself is trying to gate crash into
the grand old party of India.
Congress city Chief Kripa Shankar Singh
clarifies, “We never made an offer to Raju
Srivastav. He himself expressed a desire
(through the media) to join us. Raju believes
in the ideology of the Congress and we always
look for like minded people. However, no
decision has been taken regarding his association
with our party.”
Srivastav was quoted saying that he’s been
offered a ticket from the Congress. The
comic also stated that he was interested
in contesting from his home state Allahabad.
Reportedly, Raju has claimed to have met
both Congress president Sonia Gandhi and
her son Rahul. However, there seems to be
no truth in this too.
