The
inaugural edition of the Indian Premier
League had taken everyone by
storm. Not only did it provide non-stop
entertainment for the viewers, but it also
filled the coffers of BCCI and the franchises.
King Khan and Preity Zinta have already
made merry as owners of Kolkata Knight Riders
and Kings X1 respectively. Cashing in on
the opportunity this time is Shilpa Shetty,
who along with her entrepreneur beau Raj
Kundra, has acquired a 12 per cent stake
in Rajasthan Royals, the reigning champions
of IPL.
According to reports, Shetty and Kundra
have paid $15.4 million for their stake,
which now which values the Rajasthan franchise
at around $140million, a significant increase
on the $67 million its owners, Emerging
Media, paid for it a year ago.
Rajasthan Royals is coached and captained
by the legendary leg spinner Shane Warne.
The Royals had defeated Chennai Super Kings
in a pulsating final last year. The second
edition of IPL commence from 10 April, 2009.
