Harbhajan, Mona ‘court’ trouble again

Harbhajan’s Ravan’s act in Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena continues to haunt him. Earlier it was the Akal Takht which objected to his act on Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena and now it’s certain members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Jalandhar who reportedly have filed a Public Interest Litigation accusing Harbhajan, Mona Singh for hurting religious sentiments.

The complaint was filed in October 2008 under sections 298 (uttering words with a deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of any person) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code.

Back in September, Harbhajan and Mona had danced as Ravan and Sita in Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena. While the Sikhs objected to one of their own dressing up as the demon king Ravan, the Hindus were riled as they questioned how Sita can be shown dancing with Ravan.

Advocate Arvind Thakur, who had moved the complaint along with members from the local unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has quoted on a website saying that after hearing the arguments on the petition, the magistrate issued summons for Harbhajan, Mona and authorities of channel, on which the program was aired, for April 27, 2009.

Meanwhile, an upset Mona Singh had this to say, “I don’t know who filed the PIL. I was informed about it this morning through calls from the press. We’ve accepted our mistake and have apologised for it. May be, an apology in court will settle the matter once and for all. After this episode, I’m scared to take part in any reality shows.”

While playing a match in Chandigarh, Harbhajan had tendered a public apology. According to advocate Thakur, they wanted Harbhajan and Mona to file a written apology in the court but failed to do so and that is what has prompted this latest action.

Well, we hope that a written apology from our stars will soothe the nerves of the aggrieved.
