Monica Bedi to cut a spiritual album

Bigg Boss 2 finalist Monica Bedi who will soon be seen dancing in Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa 3 is now trying her hand at singing. The actress is going to cut a spiritual album titled Ek Onkaar for Universal Music. The album is a compilation of the revered mantra of the Sikhs called Mool Mantra which is one of the holiest chants from the Guru Granth Saheb. It will be followed by 2 Pauris from Japji Saheb which speaks about the universality of God and the strong belief in destiny as depicted by Sikhism. Followed by the Simran of Wahe Guru that resound the ultimate exclamation of wonderment in the praise of the Lord.

The actress informs, “This album is homage to God as well as to convey my unshaken belief in Him which has helped me through the trials and tribulations of life. People think of me as strong and brave but I was totally lost till I surrendered myself to Him and started praying and believing in Him. I will be really honoured if through this small endeavour of life, people are inspired to have ultimate faith in the Almighty Lord.”

It is also reported that Monica will be giving the entire earnings from this album as charity.

Rajeeta Hemwani, VP, A&R/ Content, Universal Music says, “2009 will see a lot of path breaking releases on the Punjab front. Thus in the same vein but a different tune, we thought of endeavouring across genres, and setting our foot firm into the spiritual realm. This would be Universal’s first major spiritual release of the year”.

“Monica was very keen in doing this album when we explained the concept of the album to her. Besides, herself belonging to the Guru Nanak Bedi family, we thought she suited well and zeroed down on her voice”, added Rajeeta.

The music of the album has been arranged by Anand Kurhekar of Inner Voice.
