Seema
Kapoor's rise to to fame with serials like
Kismat (she debuted in Ramesh Sippy's
show) Kurukshetra, Hum Saath Aath Hai
and Hasratein was quite phenomenal.
But her fading into oblivion was also equally
surprising. After a gap of almost a year,
the talented actress came back to televison
in Rajan Shahi's Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai.
She has been playing the important role
of Vasundhara Rajvansh and made a huge success
of it. Tellychakkar spoke to her on the
occasion of her role completing a year.
You
have completed a successful stint of one
year in Bidaai. How do you feel looking
back at the last year?
It feels great! I will never forget the
day I was selected. Rajan Shahi told me
that he had auditioned many actresses for
this role, but the moment I walked into
his office he felt he had found his Vasundhara!
I feel that itself is a compliment from
a director with so many years of experience.
I was even more happy because I knew my
role in Bidaai would be a pivotal
role and the audience would like it.
Bidaai is perhaps one of the
few successful serials in the recent past.
What, according to you, is its mantra for
success?
I think there are a number of reasons for
this. A realistic approach to the storyline,
strong screenplay and correct characterisation
being the top ones. All of us fit so well
into our characters, you will feel something
amiss the moment you think of someone else
playing these roles. And none of the characters
go overboard in doing good or bad things!
The four lead characters Sadhna, Ragani,
Alekh and Ranveer are like fresh air in
the industry. The audience always likes
to watch new and fresh things in term of
actors and stories. And that is exactly
what Bidaai provided.
How do you think your character is different
from the rest?
Firstly, Vasundhara Rajvansh is not the
typical glam doll with heavy make up, eye
shadows and sleeveless and backless blouses!
Seema Kapoor in a saree can easily
play this role. I feel that created a major
difference in the audience mindset. I knew
from the begining that Vasundhara is going
to have grey shades, but will be a person
of principles. It would be a mix of good
and bad and I prepared myself accordingly.
Even in the current track -- she has agreed
to the marriage of Rajveer and Ragini just
because Rajveer will be happy. I am glad
that people have accepted me as Vasundhara,
and I keep hearing about how they like me
in the show. But wait for more twists and
turns in the coming episodes as after all
it's a daily soap.
Who is your best friend in the Bidaai
team?
Every one is my good friend! I am a professional
and have a healthy relationship with all
of them. By nature, I am a loner, I love
to be with myself.
During your break, what you were upto?
There is a myth that after working for
so many years (12 to be precise) in this
industry, I just wanted to take it a little
easy. My break for two years was a break
in the sense I was working only on one show!
I got married during this time! My husband
is an interior designer and my dad also
stay with us. So there was a time when I
needed to give more time to my personal
and spiritual life (Seema is a firm believer
of Jesus Christ). That is why I took the
break.
