The
entertainment industry is badly hit by recession
but that hasn’t deterred Bollywood big wigs
from venturing into television. The latest
Bollywood personality to venture into TV
production is noted director Madhur Bhandarkar
who will be producing a weekly show for
Sony.
Earlier
there were reports which stated that Bhandarkar
himself will be directing this show. However,
this has been rubbished by the director
through a press statement where he made
it clear that he isn’t directing but his
company (Bhandarkar Entertainment Pvt Ltd)
is producing a television show for a particular
channel.
Speaking about this show, a source from
the production says, “Firstly, let me make
it clear Madhur is not directing but only
producing it. It’s going to be a weekly
show. We’ll be making 10 short stories of
one episode each for Sony. All these stories
are very much women oriented. After all,
they are the target audience. The title
isn’t decided yet but we expect the show
to launch in mid February.”
Sony business head Albert Almedia refused
to comment.
Meanwhile, it’s also buzzed that Sony has
approached Mahesh Manjrekar and Vikram Bhatt
to direct a show each for them. Both Mahesh
and Vikram remained unavailable for comment.
