I am happy I took up this role
Gavie unveils his success story

At a time when all the existing shows are going off air, a serial like Mohe Rang De (based on pre-independence india) has completed 100 episodes. Quite an achievement one must say! Gavie Chahal a.k.a. Rajveer in the serial is a very happy man as a result. "I am happy that I took up this role, though initially I was not ready to work on a daily show. Somehow I had this feeling that you get stereotyped by acting in a daily soap."

Then how did he get the role? "One of my friends, who had asked me to go for this audition, acompanied me for a meeting with Deepti Bhatnagar. We had multiple meetings after that and I said Yes after talking to her. However, there have made many changes in the script since then," says Gavie.

"It has been a roller coaster ride for me. There was a time when we were not sure about the show's success and on and off we were listening to rumours of it going off air. But thank God we have crossed that phase and are in a much better position today," explains Gavie.

According to him, what is the recipe of this show's success in these bad times? "I really think it is the unusual plot that has contributed to the success of this show. Since it is based on our fights against the British rule and there is a love story between Rajveer and Kranti in the backdrop, it was different from the rest and the audience loved it," explains Gavie.

Gavie's friendship with Prableen is also helping his performance, he feels. "Prableen who have known for the last 4 years is a great co-star. We have worked earlier in Punjab. So that is really helping us in our on-screen chemistry. However, I must tell you that the full credit of this show's success goes to the first director -- Anubhav Kashyap (brother of director Anurag Kashyap). He is a great director and helped us in every possible way when the show starts," says Gavie who uses an artificial moustache now! "I had an original moustache which I had to shave off because of the number of ads I had to do in between!" says a smiling actor tweaking his moustache, albeit artificial.

Gavie is also shooting for his Punjabi film Rabba Mainu Pyar Ho Gaya, a big budget film. "I can't deny the fact that my heart belongs to Punjabi films," concludes the handsome actor.
