Once upon a time, Naaginn
used to be one of Zee TV’s top shows but the channel has now decided to discontinue
with the show. Naaginn will shut down on 11 April. As always, low TRPs
are being attributed for the show’s downfall. Confirming
the news, producer and actor Aruna Irani says, “Yes, it is true that Naaginn
will wind up on 11 April. Apparently, the channel wasn’t happy with the TRPs so
they decided to end our show. I respect their decision. Besides, I too personally
think that we had reached a saturation point. I’m just happy that a show like
Naaginn lasted for a year and half. That’s testimony to our success.”
Contrary to the producer, an actor had another take on the show’s closure.
“We’ve been drawing reasonable TRPs. Perhaps, the recent leap didn’t go in our
favour,” said the actor. According to Irani, their show was drawing
an average TVR of 1.7 in the last month or so. Naaginn may
be gone but Aruna will be producing another show for Zee. However, the producer
says that will only happen in July.
