The first gangster comedy
show on Indian television – Gunwale
Dulhaniyan Le Jaayenge – is all set to be launched on SAB TV. Starting
from Monday, March 16, it will be aired at 9.30 PM everyday from Monday to Thursday.
The show tells the story of a family where everyone is a gangster! Vijay Kashyap,
Sushmita Mukherjee, Sudhir Pandey and Himani Shivpuri star in this show being
produced by Tangerine Films. Newcomer
Shruti Vyas is playing the role of Lovely, the daughter of a bank manager. She
falls in love with Tiger, a gangster. “Eventually they get married and the story
revolves around their love story and how it goes through various ups and downs,”
says a visibly excited Shruti. Though this is Shruti’s second show and we have
seen her earlier in Simply Sapney, this is the first time she is playing
such a major role.
“Lovely has a mild speech problem. Instead of
‘s’, she says ‘f’ and that leads to hilarious situations! Though it was a difficult
job, working in this serial is a great learning experience for me. I am working
with all stalwarts of the industry,” says the pretty actress. “Though
this is my first major show, I am not new to the industry. My father B. M. Vyas,
a former National School of Drama pass-out, has written the script for shows like
Discovery of India, Tara, Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki and is a known face in the
industry. Interestingly, all the actors I am working with in this show have worked
with my father at some point in time. Every now and then they would start chatting
up with me on the sets and remember how they had seen me as a kid and recollect
all the incidents that happened then,” says the young actress who has worked with
Nadira Babbar in a number of plays. Shruti had earlier worked on
a tele-film titled Sharp Challenge for the UK-based Channel 4 and is banking
on Gunwale.. to get a foothold in the Indian television industry.
