| SAB’s
newly launched show Gunwaale
dulhaniyan le jayenge is different from contemporary shows.
No, we aren’t talking about the subject or the script but the cast of this show
presents a unique picture. In
times, when the average age of protagonists is shrinking, the elderly line-up
of Gunwaale dulhaniyan le jayenge does come as a pleasant surprise. Obviously,
the subject merited seasoned actors but the producers and the channel too deserves
a pat on the back for having such actors play the lead. Have you ever come across
a show, where Sudhir Pandey, Vijay Kashyap, Himani Shivpuri, Sushmita Mukherjee
and Rajesh Puri are the biggest names in the show? The show went
on air from 16 March and the channel and the producers threw a launch party at
Kino’s Cottage, Mumbai. The event turned to be really memorable
for the veterans. Often these actors are reduced to playing paternal or maternal
roles and they are always the last ones to be interviewed at press conferences.
However, this was their night and none of these actors were in the mood to miss.
For a change, the scribes were getting wise and not clichéd answers.
After obliging the media, our old boys and gals got hold of their wine
glasses. As the evening settled, all of them took to the dance floor. And wow
did they burn the dance floor! Some old friends like Meghna Malik and Virendra
Saxena too joined in the fun. The former was arguably the star performer of the
night. However, Sushmita Mukherjee and Himani Shivpuri couldn’t be left behind.
As for our old boys they just moved every bone in their body. But who cares, after
all these wise men and women were out to enjoy themselves. Three
cheers for the cast of Gunwaale dulhaniyan le jayenge.
