Over the last fortnight, viewers have only got to see tears on Balika Vadhu. And, it’s a fair argument that perhaps, the mourning has lasted a bit too long. Well, there’s someone who’s out to wipe the tears of Sugna (Vibha Anand) and the other weeping family members.

Stepping into the show is none other evergreen actress Farida Jalal. The actor is playing the role of Badi jiji, sister of Kalyani Devi (Surekha Sikri).

An elated Jalal says, “I’m a regular viewer of Balika Vadhu and have always dreamt of being part of it one day. God’s fulfilled my wish and here I’m all set to play a pivotal character in the show. It will be a challenge to work with such excellent actors. I’ll have to quickly gel with all of them.”

Elaborating on her character, she says, “Perhaps, it’s right to say that Badi jiji is out to wipe tears. (I too feel that there’s been overflow of emotions). She’s an urbanite thus completely different from her sister. She’s a very strong character and one who’s going to teach one or two things to Kalyani too.”

The flip side though is that Farida is only playing a cameo. “This is a cameo which will last for 2-3 months. Though, I’d love to continue but I have other commitments as well,” the actress sighs.

Jalal makes her entry into the show on 27 March.
